The second day of Paris Air Show 2025 is well underway with defense giants such as Safran and Airbus dominating the early headlines.
The defense industry’s moment in the spotlight didn’t last too long though with Airbus announcing an order from Vietjet just after midday on June 17, 2025.
Following some substantial orders for Airbus on day one from Riyadh Air and LOT Polish Airlines, Vietjet swept in with the largest so far.
It is widely thought that Boeing will avoid making any aircraft order announcements at Paris Air Show this year, following tragic events last week when an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed in India.
The CEO of Boeing Kelly Ortberg and Executive Vice President Stephanie Pope were both set to attend the event but cancelled their appearances due to the crash.

- LOT selecting Airbus for a new regional fleet with an order for up to 84 A220s.
- Riyadh Air placing a colossal order for up to 50 Airbus A350-1000s.
- Baykar and Leonardo launching a UAV venture called LBA Systems to address European defense gaps.
- Global lessor AviLease placing an order for 77 Airbus aircraft.
- Portugal ordering a sixth Embraer KC-390 Millennium.
